Dairy of a crazy woman...

Okay, it is official. It is not the salicylates, it is the proteins in the fruits and veges. Good news, why yes, yes it is. Why? Well, he may not be able to eat bananas raw but the amounts of foods he can eat just got sooooooo much bigger.

Really? I mean really? Sooooo can we say frustrating. I feel so mad at food lately. Serious food issues coming out of it too. Almost like why bother, lets just eat. How horrible to have both Salicylate allergy AND Oral Allergy Syndrom. You know those bananas that he could eat, yep, makes him sick. Double wammy. Foods on both Sal list and OAS list cause him to react. So the only fruit he can eat... none. Really? AAAHHHHH
On a bright note, just read about immunothearapy for food allergies. Apparently pretty good results. Once he has made a diary for a few weeks he is going to a specialist so he can be reffered to another specialist.
Oh, and we can now add maple syrup to the long list of no. Only white sugar. That is the only sweetener he will ever be able to eat. It is a cruel cruel world.

The tortilla's turned out ok. Going to keep trying. They were a little thick and didn't roll. But tasted great according to Chris. :)

Soda bread! Worth a try. But can it make a good sandwich bread? Guess we will find out! Also have a new recipe for homemade flour tortillas. If nothing else he will be able to have wraps.

Oh no, I didn't realize yeast contained salicylates. That explains a lot of the struggles my husband has still had. I can't make yeast bread for him anymore. Anyone want to buy a nice bread maker? lol Just while I am typing this I realized something, no pizza dough. He loves his sauce free pizza. There must be a recipe out there for yeast free pizza dough. Guess I will be adding more recipes soon.

So hard to know what to do sometimes. No matter how much I keep our diets all separate there is always something in the air.  I only react to gluten and sugar if I eat it. But Chris can't even breath the air without reacting. And even then we have no idea what it is he is reacting to. My hairspray? My salad? The waffle mix? Most likely all 3. The reality is it is unavoidable. This has to get easier...

Ok, so I haven't gone crazy yet. lol But we have gotten lazy, which in turn has made us all a little crazy. Yes, I have eaten gluten lately. Not a lot, but I won't deny it has been at least once a day for about 3 weeks. Yes, Chris has "tested" things lately. Today I feel motivated. Today I am getting back on track and determined that even though we didn't succed today, tomorrow we will.
I am reminded of one fact. When people make a major lifestyle change it takes 1 full year of stumbling, getting back up, and trying again to finally reach that goal. So no I won't give up. It hasn't even been a full 6 months yet. And it is amazing how much better we are about living individually healthy as a family, while eating differently.
I am not going to imagine how great it will be in another 6 months. I am going to focus simply on tomorrow. Have the strength to do the best for myself and my family. One day at a time.
